What is the IKEA Etobicoke Gift Registry?

The IKEA Etobicoke Gift Registry is an exciting and innovative new app and website that allows shoppers to create a registry all from the comfort of a smartphone, tablet or computer - in-store or while sitting at home. Now registrants can add gifts, share wish lists with guests and track gifts received. Purchased gifts can be redeemed only at the IKEA Etobicoke store selected at time of registry creation.

Is it free?

Absolutely. There is no cost to download and use the app.

How do I start my registry?

You can either create your registry online or download the app. Here are several ways to get the app:
- Visit the App Store or Google Play store
- Visit https://etobicoke.ikearegistry.ca
- Text "REGISTRY" to 24587 and get the link to download the app back via text

Can it be used in any IKEA?

As of now this service is only available in the IKEA Etobicoke store and gifts can only be redeemed there. However, you can invite friends and family to view and purchase items on their lists no matter where they live.

Why should I use the IKEA Etobicoke Gift Registry as opposed to other registries?

Here are only a few good reasons...

  • From spoon to sofa – add anything to your list: Guests can chip in any amount for a certain item. Finally five cousins can buy a couch instead of five blenders.

  • Shop ‘till you drop: Scan any barcode in the store and add it to your registry.

  • Register for a new sofa while sitting on your old one: Add any IKEA item by selecting from the in-app catalog or by typing in the IKEA catalog number.

  • Redeem your gifts at your own pace: Easily redeem one gift or all of them at once. When you’re ready, simply click ‘Get My Gifts’ in the app and use the in-app voucher to redeem purchased gifts at the IKEA Etobicoke store.

  • Full flexibility – you deserve it: We all change our minds from time to time. Not so sure about that purchased gift anymore? No problem. Use your in-app voucher to select any other gift before you take it home.

Do I need to make an appointment with a registry specialist?

Registrants don’t have to make an appointment or rely on store scanners to create and update a registry. It’s all done, in keeping with the IKEA self-serve concept, with a smartphone, tablet or computer. What platforms is the registry on?

The app is available on both Android and iOS. Guests will be able to view and purchase gifts on their desktop browsers.

Is the IKEA Etobicoke Gift Registry only for weddings?

Not at all! You can register for any event or special occasion, big or small, including baby showers, housewarmings, graduations, birthdays, holidays etc. With close to 10,000 affordable products for every area of the home, all under one roof, IKEA Etobicoke the perfect place for a gift registry.

Why did IKEA Etobicoke want their own gift registry?

Customers had been asking for a gift registry for quite some time. The store listened and decided to create an easy to use app to fill the need.

Why does the platform say 'Powered by Jifiti'? Who is Jifiti?

IKEA Etobicoke contracted Jifiti, a digital gifting pioneer, to build and operate this exclusive, gift registry app. Jifiti’s technology platform requires no integration to IKEA Etobicoke store’s systems.

Gift Purchasers

Do I have to be from Etobicoke to purchase gifts from the registry?

No, while the gifts can only be redeemed at IKEA Etobicoke, guests can be located anywhere.

Where can I find a registry?

Guests can be notified of a registry via a direct link that registrants can easily share from the app via text, email, Facebook and other social media. You can also search for a specific registry at https://etobicoke.ikearegistry.ca.

Can I print a list at the store?

There are registry kiosks throughout the IKEA Etobicoke store. Guests can also ask any IKEA co-worker to look up and print a registry list from any of the Info Towers throughout the store.

What payment methods are accepted?

Purchasers may pay with a debit card, a credit card or PayPal at the IKEA Etobicoke Gift Registry website https://etobicoke.ikearegistry.ca. If guests come to the IKEA Etobicoke store to purchase a gift, they can pay at the checkouts using debit card, credit card, cash or IKEA Gift Card.

Oregon doesn’t have sales tax and since the registry is exclusively through the IKEA Etobicoke store, there is no sales tax.

Can I ship my selected gifts to the registrants and is shipping included in the checkout cost?

IKEA Etobicoke does not have a shipping option and gifts can only be redeemed in store, so no shipping costs are applied.

How does the chip in feature work?

If a guest sees a large gift item they would like to help pay for, they can chip in for any amount of their choosing and other guests can add to it as well. Gifts on a registry will show if funds were chipped in already for it, and how much.

Registrants

Can I add large items to a registry as well?

Sure! Even if the item is a sectional sofa or a refrigerator, our app has a “CHIP IN” feature that will allow guests to give any amount of their choosing to a larger gift.

Can any IKEA item be added to a registry?

Yes.

How can I add items to a gift registry?

In the store using the app, you can simply scan the item’s barcode or enter the eight digit article number listed on the item tag. You can also browse the catalog in-app or online catalog and add to your wish list. Lastly, with the app you can snap a picture of the item in the store and upload it to the list. A selfie with the product is a good way to show guests the items you really want!

Do all items have to be added to a list in the store?

Not at all. You will be able to add items by searching the catalog and/or entering the item’s article number no matter where you might be.

Can I add items directly from my computer instead of the app?

Yes. Although the computer doesn’t have all of the great functions of app, you are now able to manage your registry online and add gifts through the catalog on the registry site.

How can I notify my family and friends about my registry?

You can easily tap the share button and choose whether to share an individual item or an entire wish list via text, email or Facebook. We also recommend adding your registry to your wedding website if you have one.

How will I be notified when a gift is purchased?

You will receive an email every time a gift is purchased or chipped in for. You can manage all the purchased gifts when viewing your registry in the app or managing it online.

How can I redeem purchased gifts?

You can request to redeem gifts whenever you're ready. You will simply submit the request through the app and will receive a redemption code in the form of a digital voucher. All you need to do is to make sure to submit the request 24 hours prior to your visit to IKEA Etobicoke. If you created your registry online and don’t have access to the app, please contact Support at +1 (866) 866-4532

Will gifts be shipped to me after purchase?

No. You will redeem a digital voucher at IKEA Etobicoke for your gifts and will then decide whether to utilize the store’s delivery services.

Can I register for services?

You can also add services to your wish list. For example, if you would like to add delivery to your registry - you simply need to ask about delivery at the IKEA Etobicoke Home Delivery desk, find out the flat rate for the zip code you live in, use the “Snap a Picture” feature in the app to upload a picture of the delivery desk or delivery truck icon on the wall, and add the quoted amount for delivery to your zip code to your wish list with the picture.

What happens if people chip in for a gift on a list, but don’t complete it?

If people chip in for a gift, but it’s not completed, the redemption voucher will include the value that was chipped in for. You as a registrant can choose to complete the purchase by making up the difference yourselves or select anything else in the store within the purchased value.

What if I no longer want/need a gift on my registry, but someone already purchased it?

That’s the beauty! Registrants will be able to make all of those final decisions when redeeming gifts at IKEA Etobicoke. You can simply switch to something else when you come in with the digital voucher.

What is the return policy for gifts purchased on my registry?

When you redeem your gift, you have the full flexibility to select anything else you would like, using the amount on the voucher. If you did redeem a gift, the standard IKEA return policy applies for all gifts: IKEA Return Policy

Functionality

If the app freezes what do I do?

If the app freezes, you should close it out and reopen, that should help reset it. If you continue to have issues, please let the IKEA Etobicoke Support +1 (866) 866-4532 with any technical issues.

What if a bar code isn’t scanning?

You can tap “Can’t scan?”, it will allow you to enter the article number or search the item through the catalog. You also have the option of snapping a picture of the item and manually inputting its information.

Why does the camera have to go to sleep after each scan?

This is to help save battery life so that the camera isn’t constantly on while you are browsing the IKEA Etobicoke store

Redeeming gifts

I'm having trouble understanding all the numbers. What does it mean "Gifts bought online"? What does it mean "Vouchers issued"? What does it mean "Remaining list balance"?

1) Gifts bought online: Many of your guests will purchase or chip-in for your gift through the online gift registry service. The total value of gifts purchased or chipped in for through the online gift registry service is provided here. You can create voucher(s) for the IKEA Etobicoke Gift Registry from this total and use them to redeem your gifts at the IKEA Etobicoke store.

2) Vouchers issued: If you have requested and received one or more vouchers, their total will be shown here. This is the total of the original value of the vouchers at issuance and does not account for any spend through those voucher which may have a lower balance.

3) Remaining list balance: This is the difference between 1 and 2 and with its value you can create a voucher i.e. some gifts have not yet been converted to vouchers. Once you choose to create a voucher and it is issued, the "remaining list balance" should revert to zero (unless more gifts have been bought for you in the meantime!)

How do I know what vouchers I have and how much each one is worth?

Your vouchers will be listed at the bottom of the My Vouchers screen. Each voucher will show an original value and a balance. To use the voucher, select it and show it to the cashier at IKEA Etobicoke. Immediately after requesting a voucher and for up to 24 hours, a voucher may be shown as pending. Once it has been approved you may use it in store.

I'm in the store and I just ordered a voucher and it has not been issued yet?

Activating your voucher can take up to 24 hours. Please speak with an IKEA manager.

Where can I use my Voucher?

Your voucher can only be used for purchases in the IKEA Etobicoke stores.

How do I put money on my voucher?

Once a voucher is created it can never be reloaded however you can create a new voucher if new gifts are purchased for you. When guests purchase gifts for you, you will see this on your app in the "manage my list" section. You can select "Get my gifts" and create a new voucher to be able to redeem these gifts in store.

How do I use my voucher when I check out?

Simply show your voucher to the cashier at the IKEA Etobicoke checkouts. The cashier will manually enter the voucher number and other details displayed on your voucher screen.

Can I use more than 1 voucher at once?

Yes, the IKEA Etobicoke cashier can take payment with multiple vouchers.

How do I check my voucher balance?

Select "Get my Gifts" in the app and you will see the current balance on each voucher. You can also see the balance of gifts you have not created a voucher for. Alternatively you can contact us at +1 (866) 866-4532

How long does it take to get my voucher once I request it?

Once you have requested a voucher through the app it will be issued in 24 hours but probably significantly faster. However don't leave the request until you are in the IKEA Etobicoke store ready to pick up your gifts!

Where can I use my voucher?

You can use your voucher to make purchases in the IKEA Etobicoke store.

What fees will I be charged?

There are no fees associated with using the voucher.

Can I use my voucher to purchase online?

No, your voucher can only be used in the IKEA Etobicoke store.

Can I use my voucher in any IKEA store?

No, your voucher can only be used in the IKEA Etobicoke store.

Do I have to use my voucher for the specific gifts I was given?

No, you have the flexibility of using the voucher for anything in the IKEA Etobicoke store. Obviously if you use the value for something not gifted to you then you will have less value to purchase the gifts which are marked as gifted on your list.

What do I do if I lose my voucher/smartphone or my registry login details are compromised?

Do funds on my voucher expire?

Funds on your voucher do not expire. Every 18 months your voucher will automatically be renewed, with no change to the voucher number.

Why do I have more than one voucher?

For regulatory reasons the maximum voucher value is $2000. Where your total gifts exceed this value, multiple vouchers are created when you request a voucher.

Can I pay for meals with my voucher?

You can use the voucher to purchase a meal at the IKEA Etobicoke stores if you have sufficient funds on your voucher.

Do I get a plastic voucher?

No, the IKEA Etobicoke Gift Registry voucher’s are virtual vouchers.

Can I exchange my gift total in my registry for cash instead of for a voucher?

No, your gift total can only be transferred to the voucher, which is accepted in the IKEA Etobicoke store selected at the time of registry creation.

Can I withdraw or transfer cash from my voucher?

No, your voucher can only be used for purchases in the IKEA Etobicoke store.
